HOME LEARNING ACTIVITIES
Letters and Sounds:
Today’s activity is from the programme Letters and Sounds, focusing on Environmental Sounds. We work through different activities to develop listening skills.
We’ll use BBC Radio Sounds to identify a variety of environmental sounds and play 'Guess what?' together. These activities help children tune into sounds around them, an important first step in learning phonics
White Rose Maths:
These activities follow on from your child’s learning using the scheme White Rose Maths. We teach this scheme in small steps, and today’s task introduces the first step of a new block: Exploring position and shape. Plus an extra activity to complete if you wish!
All activities are designed to be completed, making learning fun and engaging!

Fine motor skills.
Please create your own playdough and follow the video together.
This fun, hands-on activity strengthens fine motor skills, which are essential for holding a pencil and writing later on.
Activity: Make Your Own Playdough
If you don’t have playdough at home, here’s an easy recipe you can make together.
Ingredients:
2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water
1 tablespoon oil
A few drops of food colouring, glitter or paint (optional)
Instructions:
- Mix the flour and salt in a bowl.
- Add water and oil gradually, stirring until it forms a dough.
- If you want colour, add a few drops of food colouring/paint and knead until smooth.
- Store in an airtight container when finished.
If you do not have playdough or the ingredients to make your own,
your child can simply copy the hand movements shown in the video.
