We are a Rights Respecting School
Pupils from each class have been elected to become a Rights Ambassador. We meet once a month to discuss ways in which we can make sure we all know our rights. The Rights ambassadors share their ideas and take information back to their class.
Every class follow a class charter. These are displayed on the class pages. https://www.burryportprimary.org.uk/class-pages/
We take part in Super Ambassadors missions. Here is this terms mission:
We will post the new mission of the half term here soon.
You can find more information on Children's rights on the link at the bottom of this page.

Playground and Lunchtime charters
The Rights ambassadors felt it was important to have charters at lunchtime and playtime as well as in our classes. They created these charters together.
UNICEF is the world's leading organisation working for children and their rights. In 1989, Governments worldwide promised all children the same rights by adopting the UN Convention for the Rights of the Child. These rights are based on what the child needs to survive, grow, participate and fulfil their potential. They apply equally to every child, regardless of who they are, or where they are from.
UNICEF UK's Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) is an initiative leading to an award which recognises achievement in putting the Convention at the heart of the school's planning, policies, practices and ethos.
At Burry Port Community Primary School, we work hard on promoting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The universal rights of children are enshrined in the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child. We are a Rights Respecting School and are working towards achieving the level 2 award.
‘A Rights Respecting School teaches children and young people that they have rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. From this starting point they also learn their responsibility to respect others' rights in all relationships in the community.' (UNICEF)
