Our School Council are elected by their class to represent their views. Their job is to improve our school. The School Council gives pupils in the school a strong 'voice' in how the school is run. They meet regularly with Mr Craven-Lashley, Headteacher and they discuss things like how the school lunches can be improved, the school anti bullying policy or ideas for improving the school grounds. They also really enjoy taking a lead on planning school events. They have their own Display Board in the school's main entrance area - why not take a look?
Members of the school council are responsible for carrying out the ideas that have been agreed, such as planning playground activities or suggesting ideas to raise money for our school. Other pupils in the class give their views to the School Council through Class Council meetings.
The Head & Deputy Boy and Girl are automatically elected to the Council, representing Y6. They meet more regularly with the Headteacher to explore any relevant issues. This year, they represented our School Council at a Cluster School Council Meeting at Glan Y Mor. The plan is to strengthen this partnership in the future.
We think our School Council is effective because:
