Welcome to our Sports Ambassadors page!
What do we do?
With the support of school staff and ActifSport officers, our role is to provide opportunities to develop pupils' physical and sporting skills.
We want to get pupils as active as possible, through organised fun games and activities, delivered by us during our break times, lunch times, and sometimes in our class PE lessons!
A typical week may look like this:
What makes a good Sports Ambassador?
In our role, we need to be...
organised
approachable
patient
good communicators
passionate about sport!
What does the role of Sports Ambassador involve?
Our Sports Ambassadors undertake Bronze Ambassador Module 1 online training. This module helps our Sports Ambassadors to learn about their role, and the skills they will need to carry it out effectively.
Sports Ambassadors from Years 3-6 are given the responsibility of taking ownership of our 'PE shed'. They take care of all our sporting equipment, handing out and collecting in resources, and helping their teachers to organise and set up activities in PE lessons.
We hold regular meetings to discuss what is working, what is not working, and what our next steps are to promote greater participation in sporting activities, and to make sure these activities are well resourced and delivered effectively.
We receive visits from the ActifSport team, who come into school to observe and support our Year 6 Bronze Ambassador pupils deliver sports sessions to our Years 5 and 6 pupils.
Our Year 5 and 6 Sports Ambassadors take part in a special celebration at the end of the year at Pembrey Country Park!
They take part in fun games and activities, and receive certificates for their contribution to helping and delivering sport to the pupils of our school.
